What Happens now
Congratulations...you're BOOKED!! What happens now though? It's not as hard as you think, but there are some things you need to do to prepare for your session.
first thing's first
At this point, we have the date set. We know when...we now have to move to the where portion of planning! Here are some things to think about!
meaningful locations
These are locations that resonate deeply with a senior. It could be a family farm, specific spot downtown, lake that you swam in every summer. Somewhere that you spent quality time is a great place to document you in!

sports venues
So much time is spent in athletic venues...if you are wanting to document some of your athletic time, these are the perfect locations!

Sometimes seniors have a specific vision or dream location. Whether it's a certain city, a flower field, or Starbucks, we can make it happen!

how to plan your locations

How many locations come in your package?
based on your time
How much time does your package include? We will need to plan in drive time if your locations are significant distances apart.
timeline
Once we know where we want to shoot, we need to get a gameplan of where to start and where to end. This helps you coordinate your outfits as well!
importance
Some of the best images happen in the hour before sunset. We will want to end at the location that you are most looking forward to outdoors. If you have an indoor location, we would typically start there.
permissions
Keep in mind that certain locations will require permissions to use the space! There may be instances that we need to move your date to accommodate a location. If your location requires a permission or admission fee, we will want to get that squared away prior to your date.

what do i wear!!!!
here are some tips!
be you!
Regardless of my suggestions, you will want your outfits to tell your story too. Don't wear something you wouldn't dare be caught in normally. We want you to BE YOU in your photos!
comfort is key
Along with staying away from outfits you wouldn't normally wear, I want you to be comfortable! Tight or uncomfortable clothing does not photograph well because you look tight and uncomfortable! Wear clothes that fit you well, that you can move around in, and that give you confidence!
aesthetic
You want to consider the locations you have chosen to take your photos when planning your outfits. You wouldn't wear a suit and tie on the farm, a turtleneck at the lake, or a sports uniform in a flower field!
I'm always here to help you plan your outfits! If you aren't sure what to wear and where to wear it...I'm here to help! You'll want to have locations decided first so we can pick the perfect outfits to match!
what to avoid
there is such a thing as too much
Try to avoid clothing that is too busy. Heavily patterned clothing sometimes does not photograph well...and let's face it..it takes the focus away from you!
pressed is best
Please don't show up with wrinkled clothing! Have everything ironed and hung up the night before your session! If you are pulling a wrinkled up t-shirt, flannel, or dress out of the backseat of your car, your photos are gonna look that way. Minimal wrinkles due to movement are fine, but excessive wrinkling that could be avoided may result in an additional editing fee so be prepared!
we aren't in the 80s...
Neon colors are not ideal to choose especially a top! These colors can sometimes create what's called a color cast which is the neon color lights up your face in neon orange, green, yellow, or pink. We try to avoid the Willy Wonka effect if we can!
the right fit should fit
You'll want to choose clothing that fits. Not too short, not too tight, not too low cut, etc. This is a senior session and not a peep show! Clothing that is too small, short, or tight limits posing and it truly does make you look and feel uncomfortable.

This special piece literally held pieces of his grandma. We took a few shots highlighting the necklace so that she was there in spirit

We hung up all of the jerseys and medals for this photo to document the years spent in the sport. In another set, we had all of the team trophies that she earned during her time on the team

Our pets are important relationships growing up..they deserve a little of the limelight too! Pets are always welcomed for some photos...just remember to have an exit plan so they don't get bored!

Not only did we capture his compound bow during this session, we also took photos of him with his rifle, football, truck, and even an excavator! These are some of my favorite photos because of the unique hobbies and interests of each senior

No matter where we go or what you wear...these photos should be about YOU! Planning your session is a great time to reflect on who you have grown to be, what you love to do, and how you have changed.
All of these decisions on locations and outfits help me to tell the story of you.
